Dutas (Dutasteride) is a medicine that
refers to a class 5 alpha reeducate inhibitor and it works by blocking testosterone from being converted into the
androgen – DHT. It is used to cope with a problem of enlarged
prostate ( benign prostatic hyperplasia). Under the action of this medication
the size of the enlarged prostate significantly becomes smaller. Moreover it
betters urine flow.
Indication for use
Dutas
(Dutasteride) is used only by men for
the prevention and treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia.
Precautions
Dutas (Dutasteride) is
not recommended to use if you have: prostate cancer,
hypersensitivity to Dutasteride, and other 5α reductase inhibitors. The drug is
not used in the treatment of children and women.
Dose and usage
Dose of Dutas
(Dutasteride): 0,5 mg – dark brown,
oblong capsule.
For
adult men, including elderly patients, the recommended oral dose is 500 mcg
once / day. Treatment should be continued for at least 6 months.
Side effects
Within
the period of treatment you can feel some bad changes in your organism such as: erectile dysfunction, change (decrease) in libido,
ejaculation disorders, gynecomastia (includes tenderness and breast
enlargement); rash, itching, hives, localized edema, angioneurotic edema; alopecia
(mainly body hair loss) or hypertrichosis.
If during the administration
of Dutasteride you do not observe positive dynamics in the course of the
disease or, conversely, any unusual symptoms have joined, then it is
recommended to inform the attending physician as soon as possible.
